Perry had a relationship with the leader of the band Gym Class Heroes, Travie McCoy, whom she met in a recording studio in New York, breaking with him in December 2008, 

 

She had another relationship with Matt Thiessen, the leader of the Christian band Relient k. Thiessen worked in the album of the singer, Teenage Dream, as well as also worked on the album by Kelly Clarkson All I Ever Wanted 2009. 

 

 

Finally had a relationship with British comedian Russell Brand.

 Perry met for the first time Russell Brand in the summer of 2008, when it was filming the movie Get Him to the Greek, where Perry made a cameo appearance in it.

After 14 months of marriage, Russell filed for divorce to Perry on December 30, 2011 in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences. A few days before the separation, emerged rumors that the seemingly happy couple having marital problems were. A source told Us Weekly that magazine: "there had been a 'marriage fight' and that the two spent Christmas on opposite sides of the world". Perry was in Hawaii and Russell in London.
